According to the public relations and international affairs department of Arvand Free Zone Organization, Mr. Ali Zarei, the chairman of the board and CEO of this organization, hosted the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Basra.
In this sincere meeting, there was a discussion and exchange of views about border issues and international relations with Iraq through the international border of Shalamcheh, as well as necessary measures regarding the Arbaeen Hosseini ceremony.
In this meeting, Zarei, referring to the capacities of the Shalamcheh border, said: One of the most important concerns of this organization is the development of trade, export and economic exchange with Iraq through the Shalamcheh border, which has not been adequately addressed.
He announced the follow-ups for the establishment of the joint office of this organization and the Chamber of Commerce, the establishment of a border bazaar at the Shalamcheh border terminal, and the establishment of a resident exchange in cooperation with one of the banks operating in this place to issue currency cards for Iraqi nationals and stated: other necessary infrastructure in Business relations with Iraq will be established and activated in this terminal.
In the continuation of this meeting, Ali Abedi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Basra, while emphasizing the readiness of this consulate to cooperate with AFZO in all fields, stated: We are all soldiers of the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and we must try to promote synergy, exchange of ideas and overlapping of works.
Lastly, referring to the tourism and economic exchanges of AFZ with Iraq, Abedi added: The first component to attract tourists and investors is to provide security, and necessary efforts should be made in this area, and the products of the region should be able to compete with the foreign samples in Iraq.
